Employability Skills Training courses allow career seekers to build their resume, learn how to get the most out of Employ Florida Marketplace, build on their interview skills and gain some computer skills. And, best of all, these weekly courses are offered at no cost!
To register for a session, please send an email within 48 hrs prior to the class that you would like to attend. Once registration is confirmed you will receive a confirmation that guarantees you a seat.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time as this will allow for time to check in. Walk-in customers will be accepted, if there is available seating. Late admittance to any workshop is not permitted.

Using a computer is essential in today's job market. Learn the basic functions of a computer, including hands on tutorials for using a mouse and keyboard. You will leave with confidence and the understanding of the basic concepts of a computer after this workshop!
Breaking Barriers to Employment - This is a 2½ hour presentation
Learn to identify common barriers to employment and how to deal with those barriers on job applications, resumes and interviews. We will also discuss the Federal Bonding Program and the Expungement and Sealing process in the state of Florida.
Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM) & Re-Employment Assistance (RA) Orientation (CONNECT)
Learn how to navigate EFM and RA websites. Learn how to job search, create a virtual job recruiter and other features of EFM. Overview of the new RA process using the CONNECT web-based claims management system.
Once you become employed, what are the steps to maintain employment? Discuss workforce changes, employer expectations, pitfalls and how to handle conflicts at work. Learn how to continue developing skills which can lead to promotions and other job opportunities.
This hands on workshop is for those who already have basic computer skills. Learn how to create and format a document using Microsoft Word. Learn how to navigate the internet and read a webpage to aid in successful job searching.
Power your job search with this seminar! Topics include changes in the employment market, hidden job market, skills employers are looking for and dealing with the stress of being unemployed.

Learn the importance of using LMI in your job search and new career! Discover the hot occupations and industries, using websites such as EmployFlorida Marketplace (EFM) and ONET.
Need a LinkedIn profile, information on improving your existing profile and a complete overhaul of your profile then this hands-on workshop is right for you. Opportunity to optimize your job search via LinkedIn. You should have basic computer skills to attend.
This hands on workshop is for those who already have basic computer skills. Come and learn how to effectively apply to jobs online. Learn how to email, download, upload and paste your resume to complete the online application process.
Professional Interviewing Skills - This is a 2½ hour presentation
Learn what interviews are all about and how to prepare for a successful interview. Discussions will include the various types of interviews, common interview questions, along with what to do before, during and after an interview.
Resume Development I
The resume is important in today's job search. Understand fundamentals of building an effective resume. Learn how a resume worksheet can aid with the creation your resume as well as tools such as EFM can get you started on crafting a new resume.
Resume Development II
Get ready to update your resume! Discuss content needed for creating a successful resume, identifying your skills, knowledge and abilities, and Applicant Tracking Systems. Discussion will include creating references and cover letters. Time will be allotted for you to work on your electronic resume (basic computer skills required).
Learn about the different types of Social Media and the benefits of Social Media in your job search. Discussions include how to maintain a professional online presence and the importance of online privacy. Opportunity to create or enhance your LinkedIn profile.
Targeting Your Employment Transition
Are you ready for the changing workplace? Discussion of the changes existing in today’s world and how these changes impact the current job market. Learn how to reinvent yourself, use transferable skills and perhaps go back to school for that new job or career.
