Science Center launches partnership to boost local manufacturing

The Science Center of Pinellas is partnering with CareerSource Pinellas and Tampa and the federally funded group FloridaMakes to give a boost to the Tampa Bay manufacturing industry. FloridaMakes is contributing $150,000 to match $150,000 from the Science Center to fund a consultant position aimed at making existing manufacturing businesses leaner.

The grant was a result of a partnership between CareerSource Tampa Bay, University Area Community Development Corporation, Hillsborough County, Tampa Bay Technology Forum and the Tampa Innovation Alliance. U.S. Congresswoman Kathy Castor championed the effort.
